Guild Wars 2: The Short Summary Edition

To all the new players, This post is for you!

Welcome to the world of Tyria. This beautiful and vibrant world is filled of adventures that you have yet to discover and a story you have yet to learn. We're going to go through just a taste of what Guild Wars 2 has to offer gameplay-wise in this post!

Waypoints:

Waypoints is Tyria's way of getting from point to point in a hurry(terrible pun intended). Waypoints directly teleports you from wherever you are in a map to another spot anywhere in Tyria where a waypoint is located. As long as you've unlocked the designated Waypoint by walking to it and as long as you're not in combat *cough*. Waypoints may enter a contested state if the location it's in is being overrun with enemies, Therefore they will become inactive for a period of time.

Renown Hearts:

Simply known as "Heart Quests" or just "Hearts". Renown Hearts aren't like your average MMO quests. You can do them when you like and can choose how you like to do it! As soon as you walk into the radius of a certain Renown Heart you are given a description of things that you can do to complete the Quest. Best part is you don't have to turn in the quest when you're done with it!

(Little side note; There are certain areas within the game that do not have any Renown Hearts in them at all)

Jumping Puzzles:

Scattered all of Tyria is something called a "Jumping Puzzle" These are special routes that you have to jump across which may or may not have obstacles on them, leading up to an grand chest at the end containing a reward in the form a random piece(s) of armor/weaponary and crafting materials. Jumping Puzzles are incredibly fun to do and i recommend doing them with a couple of friends (preferably one of them being a Mesmer!).

The Personal Story:

The Personal Story is a series of instanced-quests personalized by you, for you. You decide the path you take on your road to defeat one of the 6 Elder Dragon. Your Personal Story is seperated into 8 Chapters that are unlocked every 10 levels(E.g Level 10 = Chapter One, Level 20 = Chapter Two) and you can bring up to 4 friends with you to help you with your quests.

World Vs World Vs World:

Most commonly called "WvW", Is a type of PvP game mode where players from 3 different servers collide in a battle to take over Towers, Keeps and Camps, using a variety of sieges such as catapults, flame rams, arrow carts and trebuchets just to name a few, in an attempt to capture it for your server and reap the rewards for yourself. Although WvW doesn't take place in normal open world areas, it is still a very fun game mode to experience especially once you've settled into a guild.

I've just scratched the surface of all the things that Guild Wars 2 has to offer. I highly suggest you going out and buying the game for yourself so that you can start enjoying these things your self!

On my next post i will be going onto the races of Guild Wars and the lore behind them, I'll see you then!
