[SPOILERS] The Life and Death of: Glint

With all the talk of Glint’s egg in the Living Story, I thought that it would be nice for newer players to read about whom and what Glint actually is!

Glint was an ancient dragon and was also the Champion of the Elder Dragon Kralkatorrik.
Rumour has it that Glint was one of the first beings to arrive on Tyria along with the Forgotten who aided her as servants as she would oversee the creation of the world. Glint was freed from Kralkatorriks’ control by the Forgotten after the Forgotten cast a spell that they discovered onto Glint, giving her free will and releasing her from the control that Kralkatorrik had on her.  Since then, Glint has sought to protect many of the elder races from her previous Elder Dragon master. One of the elder races that Glint concealed was the dwarves, in return, a group of dwarves created an organization that would protect Glint and her legacy, known as The Brotherhood of the Dragon. The dwarves let Glint into their “hive mind” and forged a strong alliance with her. Much later on after the Transformation of the Dwarves, the role of Glint’s protectors would fall down to a group complied of Canthan and Elonians, this group would later become known as the Zephyrites.

Glint was secretly preparing for the awakening of the Elder Dragon Kralkatorrik by collecting crystallized blood from him and a weapon made from the spine of the Elder Dragon.  She also originated the Flameseekers Prophecies in the early 270s A.E, which foretold the fall of the mursaat and the titan, and the defeat of the Undead Lich known as Vizier Khilbron.  Glint guided the Chosen hero to their destiny in 1072 A.E, and in doing so; the writings within the Prophecies came true. A group of people known as Destiny’s Edge found Glint and formed an alliance with her as she tried to help them kill the Elder Dragon Kralkatorrik after he rose up. The attempted attack failed resulting in Glint’s demise and the death of Snaff, a Destiny’s Edge member and the mentor of Zojja.  Glint’s remains were retrieved by the Zephyrites so that the energy that was retained in Glint’s corpse would not fall into the wrong hands. The Zephyrites discovered the magic that radiated from her body could be used to wield the power of the Sun Aspect, Wind Aspect and Lightning Aspect. The Zephyrites used these Aspects to build the great Zephyr Sanctum.

There is an old human tale that suggests that one of Glint’s eggs survived and hatched, this hatchling is known as “Gleam”. The whereabouts of Gleam is not known today and it is also unknown if Gleam is free of Kralkatorriks control as his mother was or not. Common theory suggests that Gleam is actually the dragon that we today know as The Shatterer that resides in Blazeridge Steppes. There is no solid evidence to support this theory but there is also no evidence to deny it as a possibility. It has only recently been discovered that Glint has another offspring; an egg that survived after Glint was destroyed. The Master of Peace took the egg and brought it upon the Zephyrites ships for safe keeping. After the Zephyrites fleet was destroyed the Master of Peace fled with the the egg to take it to an unknown place where he said it would be safe. This goal was not accomplished however, as the Master of Peace was killed by the Mordrem and then the egg was swiftly stolen by Caithe for reasons we have yet to find out.

That’s all for now folks I’ll try to give you more information about this as it comes out but for now, thanks for reading and I’ll see you next time!
